The model:  Craig bought the 2016 champion boat from Dale Van Wyk and went on to win the 2018 Division 2 championship with it. Craig has proven to be an accomplished modeler. He has kept the boat running well and made many repairs to it over the last couple of years, even having to reattach one of the sponsons during the 2019 season.

The real boat:  This is the boat that was built to replace the legendary Blue Blaster after Bill Muncey's fatal accident in 1981. Chip Hanauer was hired to drive it and made history by winning the 1982 Gold Cup and season championship in the boat's first season. It was designed by Jim Lucero and continued to be a successful hull for many years to come, being modified along the way and running on both piston and turbine engines. It became the Squire Shop in 1984 and Oh Boy! Oberto in 1987.
