The model:  Pete converted this West Coast Custom Boats Lucero hull again. He decided on the 83 Atlas boat for 2024 and is running it part-time. The boat turned out looking great. He debuted it at the Harmsworth Trophy race after some offseason testing. The boat is very fast but he's been working on taming the ride a bit. We hope to see it out on the water at least a few more times this year.

The real boat:  The boat was built to replace the famous Blue Blaster hull after the death of Bill Muncey in 1981. Chip Hanauer drove the hull to a season title in 1982. The cockpit area was lowered and reinforced before the '83 season. After two successful seasons, it was replaced with at turbine hull. Under different ownership, it ran as The Squire Shop and Oh Boy! Oberto. Eventually Jim Harvey converted it to turbine power. The boat has recently been restored back to it's 1982 appearance by the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum.
