2000 Miss Freei U-25 |

Boat Statistics
The model: Mitch built this model for 2009 as a tribute to the late Roger Newton, who passed away in 2008. Roger was crew chief for Ken Muscatel when the Freei campaigned in 2000. He will be remembered as the man arguably most responsible for the popularity of scale remote control boat racing in the world. The boat started the 2009 season in fine fashion, winning the Walther Memorial and ended the season as the 2009 Champion. It was only fitting that the boat end up in the hands of its future owner, Roger's son, David Newton. The real boat: The Freei was best known for breaking the 1-Mile straightaway speed record with Russ Wicks behind the wheel. Superior Racing's Ken Muscatel drove the boat in competition during the 2000 racing season with limited success.
