The model:  Gordy bought the boat in 2019 and it still runs well. He has been working on taming down the light boat ride though. Pete won the first Division 2 championship with this boat in 2001 and brought it back out againe in 2012.  It is one of his favorite boats.  The model ran well in the 2012 season opener, the Jerry Bangs Memorial, run in honor of the driver who was killed in an accident while driving the real boat in Seattle in 1977.

The real boat:  This boat debuted as the Miss Vernors in 1976 and became Miss Esquire and Squire in 1977.  Chip Hanauer became the driver after Jerry Bangs was killed and the boat was repainted red in 78.  Brenda Jones drove the hull when it became the Miss KYYX in 1981. It would run under various names with other drivers into the mid 1980's
