The model: This is a model that started as a Jones hull from the molds of Jeff Campbell, was modified by David Newton and finished by Mark Beatty.  Brent Hall had success with it since he started racing it in 2008.  Nels bought it from Brent in 2010 as a new CT member.  We hope to see him out getting his feet wet with it very soon.

The real boat:  Chip Hanauer got his first win driving this boat.  This was Chip's first time to drive with a major sponsor backing him beginning in 1979. Driving the Squire Shop in 1980, allowed him the chance to compete with the top teams in the sport, and the rest is history.  This boat along with the Circus Circus were the first to use a Cathedral wing to improve the aerodynamics.  Well, we're  not sure that was the case, but it sure made the boat stand out in a crowd.   It was built from the same plans as the 79 Circus Circus hull, but was made from traditional wood insead of honeycomb aluminum.  Chip later flipped this flighty boat practicing in Seattle.  Ironically, the Circus Circus hull was for sale and they were able to have an almost identical replacement hull put into service right away.
