Boat Statistics
The model: Curt saw this hull at Craig Bradshaw's boat shop. It was painted but not finished. He offered to sell it to him with no dummy engine, driver, hardware or graphics. Curt loved the paint work and decided to finish it as intended, as the Blue Chip. The real boat: A new Staudacher hull built for Dick and Paul Gordon, owners of Fairlane Tools, to start out the 1965 season. It was powered by and Allison engine modified to run with a Merlin after cooler. The Blue Chip only ran four races in 1965 with a best finish at the Spirit of Detroit race. In 1966 the boat was sold to Laird Pierce and Earl Noyes and became the U-8 Miss Dixie Cola.
