The model:  John purchased the boat from Doug Brow in the late summer of 2011 and has been preparing it to run Classic Thunder div 1.  Modifications were made to the motor speed control skid fin. Testing, testing and more testing before it ran its first race at Coulan Park this June 2012.  John put Danny Minalia behind the wheel of the boat for 2014 so he could focus on driving his other Div 1 boat, the Hawaii Kai III.

The real boat:  With Bill Brow behind the wheel the boat was christened in Detroit in 1966.  The boat sank at that race due to a hole in the bottom.  Repaired, it came back to win the next race, the Atomic Cup in Tri Cities.  The following race was the Seafair regatta in Seattle and she won all of her preliminary heats.  In the final heat while holding a considerable lead she went into the north turn on the final lap and fell into a big hole and rolled over.  Again she was repaired she came back to win the next race in San Diego.  She won all of her preliminary heats and the final for a perfect 1200 points.  Based on these results she was predicted to be the boat to beat in 1967  However on the first lap of the first heat of the first race of the season in Tampa Florida driver Bill Brow was killed and the boat totally destroyed in a spectacular accident, but as predicted she was in first place and the boat to beat.
