1964 Notre Dame |

Boat Statistics
The model: Pete painted and geared up the boat after buying the bare hull from West Coast Custom Boats. He raced a Notre Dame years ago and it's one of his all time favorites. The boat was plenty fast but a bit flighty out of the box. Pete tamed it down and drove it to 3rd place in 2021 season points. The real boat: Built by Les Staudacher, the boat was driven by Bill Muncey for about half the season as a front-runner. It won its first race, upsetting defending champion Ron Musson in Miss Bardahl. After Muncey was unexpectedly fired by the team in mid-season, Rex Manchester became its driver. He didn't win a race until his final race in 1966, the President's Cup, when he was killed in a horrible crash which also took the life of Budweiser relief driver Don Wilson. The race was cancelled and Manchester's Notre Dame won the race on cumulative points. Ron Musson had been killed earlier in the day at the same race, driving the cabover 1966 Miss Bardahl.
