The model:  Pete Schille got the hull from David Newton in a trade for his Stroh Light hydro and did the finish work himself.  It was originally built by Jeff Campbell and the front end was modified by Roger Newton.  John bought the boat from Pete for the 2014 season in division 1.

The real boat:  This boat is said to be one of the two worst handling boats ever built according to historian Fred Farley.  It was built by by John Staudacher and resembles an Ed Karelsen design, but with a blunted front end.  We've been told that a driver threw a rock at the boat and refused to ever drive it again after taking it out for a test session after it was built.  It later swapped ends in a race with Jack Regas driving and was run over by the Tahoe Miss in one of the scariest accidents ever seen.  The Tahoe was launched high into the air off of the Notre Dame and both drivers were injured.
