The model:  Ken rebuilt one of his old models into this boat and did a good job with the renovation. He brought it out to the 2021 Mapes Mile High race, but was unable to score points. We're not sure what's planned for it in 2022, but we hope to see it again. Ken has been running a limited schedule due to his dedication as a long-time high school football coach.

The real boat:  This is the eighth Notre Dame boat and was built by Ed Karelsen. It was immediately competitive, but a bit inconsistent. It was driven by Leif Borgersen, the boat was certainly capable of winning, but couldn't seem to avoid mistakes that cost them victories. Borgersen was replaced by Billy Sterett Jr in 1970 and remained competitive. The boat crashed and broke in half at the 1970 Seattle race.
