The model:  This beauty was one of three models that Nigel Steere laid up a few years ago.  John did a great job with the finish work on the hull and raced it in ERCU for a while.  In 2010 he hooked up with Brian Buaas and came racing in CT at the Governors Cup.  Brian drove it and made an impressive showing.  Look for this boat to be back again in 2011 for more CT action.

The real boat:  This is the boat that brought the Gold Cup to Seattle for the first time by winning in Detroit in 1950 for owner Stan Sayres.  Many refurbish jobs were made on the boat over the next five years, but the boat had continued success during its tenure as the Grand Old Lady.  It was wrecked in 1956 in Detroit, rebuilt for placement in the Museum of History and Industry and later restored to working condition in Seattle where it still holds celebrity status.
