1956 Miss Wayne U-50 |

Boat Statistics
The model: Jeff built this obscure model as part of the "ugly boat" theme that some of the members embraced for 2010. The boat turned out great and runs great too.
The real boat: The Miss Wayne was owned and driven by Frank "Bud" Saile out of Detroit Michigan. Built in 1955, she showed up at the '56 Seafair race sporting two large gas tanks attached to the decks on either side of the cockpit to feed the tandem V-12 Allisons. The extra tanks were needed for the thirsty engines and 30 mile heats! Also, Jack Regas drove her through the measured mile at 163 mph, but could not top the SLO-MO-SHUN IV's record of 178.497 mph, set in 1952. After being retired from competition, Miss Wayne sat on the roof of Dewey's Lumberville in Detroit (together with the second Such Crust IV) for many years as a display.
