Building Tips

Jim Clarke's '67 Bardahl under construction. Weight is an important concern with these boats. All plywood is 1/32". Building one of our class boats may resemble creating a model airplane more than a glow fuel boat. Note the Styrofoam in the background. Floatation and support will be added before the sponsons are sheeted and the hull is decked.

Mitch Dillard's foam construction technique. He basically builds a hull out of foam and then skins it with plywood.

John Williams' '73 Pay 'n Pak under construction. Note the fibers epoxied into various areas for extra strength.
